Darlington v Mansfield Preview
Quakers head south this weekend as Mark Cooper`s side take on fellow Conference side Mansfield Town in the F.A Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium. This will be the first time Darlo have played at the national stadium since the ground was redeveloped and it is hoped Darlington can come away with the victory after losing on their 2 previous visits to the famous old stadium.
Vital Player of the Year Liam Hatch looks set to play in defence as Quakers have few options open to them at the back. Hatch`s likely switch from centre forward to centre half means that there are 2 forward berths up for grabs. The likeliest strike pairing would appear to be John Campbell and Tommy Wright.
Campbell has impressed since joining Darlo mid way through the campaign from non league minnows Newcastle Benfield. The talented forward his hit 4 goals since he arrived at the Arena and with Chris Senior out of action and Michael Smith ineligible Campbell could well be in the starting eleven at Wembley this weekend.
Popular front man Tommy Wright looks set to partner Campbell up front. If Wright is selected for the showpiece final it would mark an amazing turn around in the target man`s season. Wright looked to be heading out of the club a few months back as the former Aberdeen forward was completely out of the first team picture after a number of lack lustre displays. However Wright has been able to force himself back into the senior squad and he netted his 5th goal of the season against Rushden and Diamonds on the final day of the campaign.
In the middle of the park Darlo are almost certain to opt for Mark Cooper`s favoured diamond system. This would see Jamie Chandler playing just in front of the back 4 with Aman Verma and Gary Smith patrolling midfield. Playmaker Marc Bridge Wilkinson is highly likely to play as the sides attacking midfielder just behind the County Durham sides strikers.
