At last The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the result about the test conducted in March-April 2011 for the Civil services based on the Civil Services Main Examination. It is the most curial and important Now the eligible list of 920 candidates who have been selected for the civil services have been recommended for appointment to the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Foreign Services (IFS), Indian Police Services (IPS) and Central Services (Group 'A' and Group 'B').

It attracts the largest number of candidates from the entire length and breadth of the country. The selected candidates are appointed to the higher civil services of the country.

A total number of 5,47,698 candidates applied for the examination for the year 2011 and 2,69,036 candidates appeared for the Preliminary examination, which was conducted on May 23, 2010.

The number of candidates who had qualified for the main written examination that was held ion October-November 2010 was 12,491 out of which 2589 candidates had been shortlisted for the Personality Test that was conducted this year in March-April.

This year a female candidate, S. Divyadharshini has topped the Civil Services Examination. Divyadharshini has done her B.A., B.L.(Hons.) from Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai. This was her second attempt at the prestigious examinations.

The second ranker is also a female candidate, Sweta Mohanty. Sweta has done her B.Tech (Computer Science) from Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering and Technology of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in Hyderabad. This was her third attempt.

R.V. Varun Kumar is the topper among male candidates and has secured the third rank overall. He has done his BDS from Ragas Dental College in Chennai. This was Varun Kumar's third attempt.
